Penalteam

Penalteam is the twenty-fourth episode of Season 4 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Ms. Bustier organizes a football match to teach her students the values of sportsmanship, solidarity, and teamwork. Marinette, who loves the game, throws herself into making sure the whole class enjoys the experience. Chloe, however, rejects anything resembling collective effort and is determined to ruin it. Pushed over the edge by Marinette’s relentless enthusiasm and her attempts to include her in the game, Chloe is akumatized by Hawk Moth and becomes Penalteam – a fearsome squad of supervillains ready to crush everyone on the field. 

Season 4, Episode 24 of Miraculous explores the tension between teamwork and individualism with both humor and depth. Chloe embodies the anti-team spirit taken to the extreme: to her, playing together is torture, and winning alone is the only acceptable outcome. In contrast, Marinette shows remarkable resilience, refusing to let Chloe destroy the group’s enjoyment. This dynamic is both funny and moving, and it is one of the episode’s greatest strengths.

The concept of Penalteam is one of the most original ideas in Season 4 of Miraculous Ladybug. Instead of a single antagonist, the akumatization creates a full team of supervillains, each with specific powers and formidable coordination. This unusual format forces Ladybug to rethink her entire strategy, because facing one opponent is very different from countering an organized team.
